Setting up Element Call

Introduction

Element Call is Element's next generation of video calling, set to replace Jitsi in the future. Element Call is currently an experimental feature so please use this accordingly, it is not expected to replace Jitsi yet.

Under integrations, install ElementCall - FullMesh VoIP (experimental).

How to set up Element Call for Airgapped environments

First, setup Coturn by clicking Install next to Coturn from the integrations page. Then add a shared secret and the coturn FQDN you wish to use:

Then add PEM encoded cert and key files that cover the Coturn FQDN to the ~/.element-enterprise-server/config/legacy/certs folder (create it if not already present). Naming the two files <FQDN>.crt and <FQDN>.key, also add you CAs cert as ca.pem:

Within the Element Call Integration page, ensure SFU Networking is set to Host IP and the coturn FQDN is added to the STUN servers list (ensure to include the port):

How to set Element Web to default to use Element Call

By default when you add Element Call alongside Jitsi, you will get an option in Element web to use Jitsi or Element Call when starting a call. If you wish for Element Call to be the default behaviour set the below config in your Element Web config file.
